Beltane Brue – Standard vs. Convection Model

What’s the difference?

Both versions of the Beltane Brue are compact wood-burning stoves with a nominal output of around 4.0 kW, high efficiency, and a large glass window for excellent flame visuals. They share the same core design, energy rating, and DEFRA-approved status, but the Convection model adds enhanced heat distribution and installation flexibility.

🔹 Standard Beltane Brue

  • Traditional radiant heating: Heat is delivered primarily from the stove’s body and glass front.
  • Clearances to combustibles: Standard distances apply (e.g., ~200 mm rear, ~600 mm sides).
  • Best for: Typical room setups where standard heat dispersion is sufficient.
  • Installation: Straightforward sit-on hearth or base placement.

Ideal if: You want straightforward radiant heating and a classic compact stove setup.

🔹 Beltane Brue Convection Model

  • Enhanced convective heat distribution: Convection panels channel air around the firebox before releasing it into the room — spreading warmth more evenly and efficiently.
  • Reduced combustible clearances: With convection panels fitted, required clearances to combustibles decrease (e.g., side clearance can reduce from ~600 mm to ~200 mm).
  • Improved installation flexibility: Easier siting in timber-framed or tighter spaces due to lower clearance needs.
  • Heat delivery: More even warmth throughout the room, not just from the stove’s surface.

Ideal if:
✔ You have an open-plan space
✔ You want better air circulation and heat dispersion
✔ You need lower clearances for building constraints

Quick Comparison

Feature Standard Brue Brue Convection Model
Heat Type Radiant Convection + Radiant
Airflow Standard Enhanced convective airflow
Clearance to combustible materials Standard distances Reduced with convection panels
Best for Smaller rooms with standard heating needs Open-plan or tighter installations
Installation Flexibility Standard Higher

In Simple Terms

  • The Standard Brue heats mainly from its surface and is ideal for straightforward installations.
  • The Brue Convection model moves heat more efficiently through the room and reduces space requirements around the stove.
