What We’re Doing Today
🔆 Solar Power
In January 2025, after being awarded a Grant by Adur & Worthing Councils' Business Support Programme, we covered our showroom roof with solar panels to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy. This has proven to be incredibly beneficial to us as a business, allowing us to continue running a showroom full of fires without burdening the grid.
📃 Going Paperless
Reducing paper is one of the simplest and most effective ways to lower our impact. The majority of our gas service reminders are now sent via email or phone, instead of post. Job sheets will soon be digital, helping us cut waste and improve efficiency. Our payment system is moving to a paperless option, giving customers email or text receipts instead of printed ones. That said, we understand not everyone is online, so we’ll always keep a paper option available for those who need it.
🚚 Smarter Deliveries
We work with our suppliers to consolidate shipments and reduce delivery frequency, meaning fewer vehicles on the road, lower emissions, and less congestion in our community.
💡 Energy-Efficient Showroom
Our new showroom and stores are designed with energy-saving in mind:
- LED lighting throughout, using up to 90% less energy than halogen bulbs.
- A pellet stove heating system, fuelled by UK-sourced, Forest Standard accredited timber pellets. These pellets provide 4800 kWh per tonne and make use of logs that would otherwise go to waste.
♲ Sustainable Products
We carefully select products that are:
- High-efficiency – reducing both environmental impact and customer running costs.
- Durable – backed by strong manufacturer warranties to minimise waste.
- Repairable – with our in-house service team extending product lifespan wherever possible.
Many of our partner manufacturers also now ship without plastic packaging, further reducing unnecessary waste.
🌿 Greener Travel
We’ve introduced an electric pool car for local deliveries, site visits, and quick trips, cutting down emissions from our day-to-day operations.
Our Future Plans
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, but sustainability is a long-term journey. Over the next few years, we’re working towards these exciting initiatives:
🌧️ Rainwater Harvesting
Collecting and reusing rainwater for our on-site toilets, cutting down mains water use.
🚙 EV Work Fleet
Replacing our vans with electric alternatives as soon as suitable models are available.
⛽️ Smarter Scheduling
Planning jobs to reduce travel distances, fuel use, and road congestion.
