Huge takeaway-inspired flavour for noodles, stir-fries and more
Tubby Tom’s Meow Mein is a bold, savoury chow mein seasoning made for quick, flavour-packed cooking.
Inspired by the satisfying taste of takeaway-style fried noodles, it combines soy sauce, garlic, black pepper and smoked paprika with plenty of rich umami. It is lighter in colour and character than Tubby Tom’s popular Dragon Salt, but it certainly isn’t short on flavour.
Toss it through freshly stir-fried noodles, use it to transform a packet of instant noodles or sprinkle it over broccoli and greens as they cook. It is also excellent dusted over chicken before air frying or added to pan-fried prawns.
This isn’t presented as an authentic regional recipe—it is Tubby Tom’s playful, intensely tasty take on takeaway-style chow mein.
How it tastes
Deeply savoury and packed with umami, with soy, garlic, black pepper and a subtle smokiness from paprika.
What to use it on
- Stir-fried noodles
- Instant noodles and easy ramen
- Chicken
- Prawns
- Broccoli
- Cabbage and leafy greens
- Mushrooms
- Mixed vegetable stir-fries
- Rice
- Tofu
How to use it
Add generously while stir-frying noodles, meat, prawns or vegetables, then toss everything together until evenly coated.
For instant noodles, stir it into the cooked noodles with a little of the cooking water or mix it with oil to create a quick coating sauce.
It can also be sprinkled over chicken before air frying or used to season prawns and vegetables before pan-frying.
The seasoning may naturally clump after opening. Break up any clumps with clean, dry fingers or dissolve the seasoning in a little oil before adding it to your food.
