Classic, earthy smoke with a satisfying crunch
Tubby Tom’s Oak Wood Smoked Sea Salt Flakes bring the deep, comforting flavour of traditional wood smoking to everything from slow-cooked meat and grilled food to roast vegetables, chips and homemade popcorn.
Oak is a classic British hardwood for smoking. It produces a full-bodied, earthy smoke that is less punchy than stronger woods such as mesquite or hickory. The result is a versatile smoked salt that adds plenty of savoury depth without overwhelming the natural flavour of your food.
Its balanced smoke makes this one of the easiest wood-smoked salts to use throughout the kitchen. Sprinkle it over cooked food for a crunchy finish, use it to season meat before slow cooking or add it to anything destined for the barbecue, grill, smoker or oven.
How it tastes
Clean, crunchy sea salt with a rich, earthy smoke that is full-bodied without being overpowering.
What to use it on
- Beef and steak
- Pork and ribs
- Chicken
- Slow-cooked meats
- Burgers and sausages
- Roast vegetables
- Chips and potato wedges
- Eggs
- Corn on the cob
- Homemade popcorn
How to use it
Use it as a finishing salt just before serving to retain the texture and smoky aroma of the flakes.
It can also be used before cooking to season meat or vegetables for the barbecue, grill, smoker, slow cooker or oven. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry and dark place away from direct sunlight, humidity and steam. Reseal after use.
As salt, metal and moisture can cause rust, avoid storing the tin immediately beside a cooker, kettle or other source of steam.
If rust begins to appear on the tin, transfer the salt to a clean, dry container before cleaning the empty tin. Ensure the tin is completely dry before using it again. The tin can also be lined with baking paper to help separate the salt from the metal.
